The NFL world was struck with tragedy on Monday as former NFL star cornerback Vontae Davis was found dead at the age of just 35 years old.
According to a report from Julian Quintana of 7News in Miami, the body of Vontae Davis was found at a house in Florida and an “investigation is underway.”
“A death investigation is underway after the body of former Miami Dolphins cornerback Vontae Davis was found at a residence in Southwest Ranches, a 7News source said,” Quintana wrote on Monday.
“Davie Police and the Broward County Medical Examiners Office arrived at the scene in the area of Southwest 178th Avenue, Monday morning.”
Police told 7News that “no foul play was involved” in his death, but they continue to investigate.
Davis was selected in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins where he played three seasons before he was traded to the Indianapolis Colts. Davis had the most productive years of his career with the Colts where he earned Pro Bowl honors in both 2014 and 2017.
Davis joined the Buffalo Bills in 2018 but abruptly retired in the middle of just the second game of the season, removing himself from the game in the middle of a game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
