A waitress who cried wolf has been canned after calling out Pittsburgh Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams for skimping on a tip.

Over the weekend, a waitress at Ledo Restaurant in Maryland ripped Williams after the NFL players left her with a 75 cent tip, calling him “cheap as shit” in a Facebook post.

“Just now at work I had DeAngelo Williams come in and I waited on while tending bar,” the bartender wrote. “His check was $128.25. He left me $129 with no tip but 75 cents. So there you go [sic] Stealers fans, your running back is cheap as s**t!!! Smh.”

The comments didn’t fall on deaf ears. Williams caught wind and shared a knockout rebuttal. He admitted on Twitter to leaving the small tip after waiting over an hour and a half for his food. Williams said after waiting his order was wrong, so he left a tip reflecting the poor service.

Co-owner Jimmy Marcos told TMZ the server was fired and the situation was handled poorly. He offered up an apology to Williams and said his next meal is on the house.

“I want to offer anything I can do. I’ll be sure to apologize in person next time he visits and pick up his next meal,” Marcos told TMZ.

The waitress, whether she was right or wrong, can hold resentment towards Williams if she’d like following the low tip. But, publicly calling him “cheap” and “shit” crosses the line. She made the restaurant and herself look bad and deserved to get axed. The initial 75 cent tip was probably too kind.
