Of all the horrible maladies an NFL player can suffer, a pinkie injury seems pretty tame. Like, it’s just a pinkie, how bad could it be?

Well, tell that to Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.

During the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers, Carr suffered an oddly gruesome injury to his pinky after a mishap on a snap.

Here’s a close-up of the snap that led to Carr’s injury…

And here’s a gross still shot of the messed up finger.

Naturally, because football players are alien freaks who can withstand injuries in a way that makes zero sense (or because they’re loaded up with toradol), Carr came back into the game after hardly any missed time.

Who needs a pinkie anyway?
