The Tennessee Titans had a brutal go of thing in 2024, resulting in the franchise earning the rights to the number one overall pick in the NFL draft. The Titans used that pick to select former Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward.
Ward wasn’t a lock to be the starter to open this season, though, due to the presence of Will Levis on the Titans roster. However, a significant update from one NFL insider has changed the outlook for the Titans’ quarterback room entirely.
“Titans QB Will Levis will undergo surgery on his throwing shoulder, sources say, ending his 2025 season. Surgery is July 29. Levis has elected to have the procedure to ensure long-term health, based on medical opinions, one that should help him be ready for the 2026 season,” reported NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on Monday.
The Titan also released a statement on the brutal news.
“After consulting with his doctors and representatives, Will Levis has decided to undergo shoulder surgery that will sideline him for the entire 2025 season. We support his decision to focus on his long-term health. He approached the offseason with professionalism and showed clear growth as a leader. We remain confident in his full recovery.”
Fans reacted to the devastating injury news on social media.
“Not the worst thing in the world to get his career on track,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Can Ward will be a bust, the starting job will be there waiting for Will,” predicted another fan.
“Wishing Levis a smooth surgery and strong recovery 2026 season can’t come soon enough!” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see how Ward handles being thrust into the starting job.
