It’s always an honor for a team to select a player with one of the top five picks of the NFL Draft, but the Houston Texans honored former Alabama Crimson Tide star linebacker Will Anderson in an even more unique way on Thursday night. Not only did the Texans select Anderson in the top five, but they actually traded up to do it.

Immediately after selecting Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback C.J. Stroud with the No. 2 overall pick, the Texans secured the No. 3 pick from the Arizona Cardinals and used it to select Will Anderson. And Anderson certainly felt the love from the team after they made the big move to go and get him.

“It means everything,” Anderson said according to On3. “Everybody don’t know how much hard work goes into this. The sacrifices I made. The hard work. The dedication. Everything that goes into this. They just see what happened on Saturday but the process. I’m just so blessed and favored by God.”

We’ll have to see how Anderson’s Texans career plays out as he tries to make his mark at the next level, but it’s already clear that he is excited to be a member of the Houston Texans organization.
