When the Dallas Cowboys made a trade for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance this week, it became clear that young quarterback Will Grier would be the odd man out for the Cowboys with starter Dak Prescott and proven backup Cooper Rush already on the roster. But he got one last opportunity with the team, and he made the most of it.
Even though Will Grier was informed that he was going to be cut from the team by Tuesday, the Dallas Cowboys gave him a chance at a live audition for other NFL teams by letting him play the entire preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders. And it’s safe to say he made the most of his opportunity.
Grief finished the game 29-of-35 through the air for 305 yards and two touchdowns through the air. He also had 53 yards and two touchdowns on the ground on 10 carries while leading the team to points on 100 percent of their trips to the red zone.
It was a dazzling performance from the young quarterback that will certainly have the attention of other teams throughout the league, and people had plenty to say about it on social media as a result.
Will Grier, take a bow.
Cowboys told him they were firing him yesterday after the trade. Came out tonight and completed 83% for 302 yards. 4 total touchdowns. 100% in the red zone, 65% on 3rd and 4th down
Can't imagine he hasn't earned a shot w/ someone, even if it's not Dallas

I would keep Grier over Dak. He'll be better then Dak will be. And I'm not kidding. Dak is not the answer. I've been saying this since Dak took Tony Romo job.@dallascowboys @realjerryjones https://t.co/GoEFMMe9ZV

This is very cool. Will has done well with the time he’s had in the Dallas the last few years https://t.co/CBy3oJDWJT

We’ll have to see where Grier lands after that performance.
