On Monday morning, it was reported that New England Patriots legend Willie McGinest was booked by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office on a felony assault charge. Now, a video has emerged showing the incident that led to charges and they show a pretty disturbing scene.
McGinest, who is currently a studio analyst for NFL Network, turned himself in Monday over charges of assault with a deadly weapon in connection to a Dec. 9 incident at a West Hollywood nightclub.
Video of the incident found its way onto Twitter on Monday. The video appears to show McGinest approaching a man who is sitting in a booth. The two get very close while talking and McGinest and another person then start punching the man. A fight then breaks out in the restaurant involving multiple people. The gruesome fight takes an even darker turn when McGinest is seen shoving a wine bottle into the man’s face multiple times. The 51-year-old former linebacker discards the bottle as the fight is broken up.

It’s unclear if the other people involved in the fight were also charged or what the status of the man who was attacked might be. McGinest’s bail was set at $30,000 and he posted it Monday morning.
McGinest was the No. 4 overall pick in the 1994 NFL Draft and he played 12 seasons for the Patriots, winning three Super Bowls and getting two Pro Bowl honors. He spent three seasons with the Cleveland Browns before retiring after the 2008 season.
