Unfortunate news out of Los Angeles Monday when New England Patriots legend Willie McGinest was arrested for assault, according to law enforcement.
Three three-time Super Bowl champion linebacker was booked by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office on Monday at 7:30 a.m. on a felony assault charge, per Fox News.
Per FOX11, McGinest turned himself in over an assault that allegedly occurred in the last two weeks. The specifics of the assault remain unclear but McGinest’s bail was set at $30,000 and he is due in court on Tuesday morning.
McGinest was the No. 4 overall pick in the 1994 NFL Draft and he played 12 seasons for the Patriots, winning three Super Bowls and getting two Pro Bowl honors. He spent three seasons with the Cleveland Browns before retiring after the 2008 season.
He was named to the New England Patriots Hall of Fame and holds the record for most career postseason sacks with 16.
After his playing career, McGinest entered the broadcasting world, joining Fox Sports and ESPN before eventually working for NFL Network as a football analyst.
McGinest and two teammates were charged with battery and false imprisonment by a USC female student in 1990. The trio of players were acquitted of all charges a year later.
