This is not the way New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson wanted to start off the 2022 NFL season.

Late Sunday night, a story surfaced on social media concerning Wilson and his ex-girlfriend.

Wilson’s ex, Abby Gile, who is now dating his former BYU teammate and friend Dax Milne, who plays for the Washington Commanders, was called out on social media and called a “homie hopper.” She, in turn, outed Wilson by accusing him of sleeping with his mom’s best friend.

Gile said in a now-deleted post that Wilson “was sleeping with his mom’s best friend … that’s the real homie hopper,” she wrote with two laughing emojis.

Soon after, not only was the post gone but so was her Instagram account. Milne, who had posted the picture of him and Gile earlier on his IG account, later closed all his comments to his post.

Neither Wilson nor the woman allegedly involved has said a word, but his mom has railed against the evils of social media in a 30-minute video rant. She did not mention her son at all but she does mention a situation between her and her daughter whom she says turned on her.

“I full-on thought that I had mastered parenting … I was like, ‘I’m freakin’ badass, I have a kid in the NFL,’” she said, saying she was “in denial” of their lives of her children online. “Guys, you need to take back your title as parent … You’re in charge of these beautiful babies, and I failed horribly.”

Sounds like it’s not a good start to the week for the Wilson family. Still, social media seem to delight in Wilson’s troubles.

As you can tell, many had fun at Wilson’s expense.

Good luck with all that at your next press conference, Zach.
