Since Aaron Rodgers signed with the New York Jets, many have wondered what former starter Zach Wilson’s take on the situation was and what he thought about the former Green Bay Packers quarterback. Finally, we got to hear from Wilson for the first time, and he doesn’t seem too upset with Rodgers.
“I would like to be the guy,” Wilson said via Antwan V. Staley on Twitter. He continued, “At first, you’re not always happy about that. But I’m extremely psyched that out of any QB we could’ve brought in, it was him,” he said.

That’s very mature of Wilson, considering his lack of maturity is one of the reasons he was replaced in the first place. Having Rodgers on the team isn’t a bad thing for Wilson.
It gives him a chance to learn and study the game from a Hall of Fame quarterback and gives him a chance to mature even more and maybe gain back the trust of his teammates.
Wilson was thrown to the wolves his first few years with the Jets, and it was apparent he wasn’t ready for the spotlight and pressure of being the team’s Savior.
But for now, the pressure is off, and Zach Wilson can just learn. And when the day comes that Aaron Rodgers retires, maybe Wilson will finally be ready.
