The New York Jets are left with Zach Wilson as their starting quarterback for the remainder of the season after future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending injury during his first drive with his new team last week. Unfortunately for the Jets, Wilson struggled mightily on Sunday afternoon – and he knows it.
Zach Wilson was just 12-of-27 for 170 yards, a touchdown, and three interceptions in the 30-10 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon while being sacked three times. And he had a pretty clear assessment of his performance after the game, saying “I need to be better.”
“I feel like I’m seeing it well. I really do,” Wilson said after the game according to Pro Football Talk. “It’s really unfortunate to show that as an offense. We’ve got to be better. I need to be better. But we are right there. So, it’s long season. We’re going to watch this film and see how we can improve. Everyone trusts and believes in each other. Everyone loves each other. We’re excited for the challenge.”
Wilson was able to lead his team to victory in the season-opening showdown with the Buffalo Bills. It will be interesting to see if he can bounce back from a tough showing against the Cowboys this weekend.
