The Anaheim Ducks became the latest NHL team to re-design their uniforms, revealing the new look Wednesday morning.
Like their crosstown rival, the Los Angeles Kings, the Ducks chose to turn back the clock and go with a throwback look, returning to a logo similar to the one the franchise had upon its 1993 inception.
The team shared the new look on its X account.
A tribute to our legacy, with eyes on the future.

The video accompanying the new look broke down some elements of the jersey. The orange color references Orange County, the team’s home in California. Orange was also meant to represent the “spirit and heartbeat” of the organization. The video also notes, “Behind every pretty facade is an ugly Duck ready to defend its nation.”
The orange look differs from the original teal and purple look, though the logo is almost a direct match.
X account Puck Report NHL further broke down the new jerseys, calling the logo a “modernized Mighty Duck logo” and a “modified Duck Foot as the secondary shoulder patch.”

Reactions to the new look have been largely positive, especially on social media. While new uniforms or logos can often be met with reservations from the fanbase, throwback-style jerseys are usually a success, so they’re becoming more popular and relevant in sports as nostalgia and society’s cyclical nature take hold.
This video rocks.
