Canucks anthem singer

There’s been a lot of talk about national anthem lately, but this is nothing but a positive national anthem story for once. The Vancouver Canucks welcomed blues musician and actor Jim Byrnes to sing the national anthem for the United States and Canada prior to Tuesday night’s game against the St. Louis Blues. Before Byrnes completed the singing of the national anthem of the United States, his microphone hit the fritz and left him inaudible for the remainder of the performance.

Fortunately, the Canucks fans were up to the task and finished the job and then proceeded to sing the Canadian national anthem, although a tad disjointed.

Byrnes just so happens to be a blues magician from St. Louis, so performing the national anthems prior to a game against his hometown team must have been a special moment for him. It’s a shame there was a technical glitch to cut his audio to ruin it, but the sight and sound of the fans coming in to finish the singing of the national anthems is still a pretty cool moment.

Maybe next time the Canucks will do a better mic check before the game.
