It’s a moment that excites fans. The referee puts his arm in the air, signaling a penalty against the opposition. Soon enough, your team is about to get a power play or score a goal with an extra man on the ice.

Unless you’re the Dallas Stars. During Thursday’s game against the Ottawa Senators, the Stars were set to head on to the power play trailing 1-0. Then, things took a turn for the worse when a drop pass was attempted. This resulted in an own-goal that will live on blooper reals forever.

The first tweet sums up my reaction perfectly: lmao. That’s bad luck but hilarious nonetheless. Especially when that power play could’ve really given the Stars some momentum. With how Dallas’ season has gone so far, this seems to fit in perfectly with the narrative.
