New Jersey Devils forward Brian Boyle was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia in September, but was able to make his season debut on Nov. 1. And on Thursday night, Boyle scored his first goal since the cancer diagnosis in the Devils’ game against the Edmonton Oilers.

The 32-year-old was understandably overcome with emotion, and said, “I’ve never cried after a goal before.”

“I’ve never cried after a goal before. It’s a lot. It’s everything. These guys, my wife, my kids, they’ve been through a lot too, my parents, my siblings, it’s a good feeling.”
