There are few things more exciting than seeing two goaltenders take off their mask, skate to center ice and start fighting. But, for one ECHL netminder, dropping the mitts turned into an unfortunate, quick defeat.

During the third period of a game between the Cincinnati Cyclones and Quad City Mallards, goaltenders Adam Vay and Michael Houser decided to fight after a brawl broke out between the two teams. The fight didn’t last long as Vay took a hard swing at Houser and knocked him to the ground almost immediately.

Houser, while knocked on his ass, appeared to be OK. Kudos to Vay for immediately checking if his on-ice sparring partner was OK following the blow. Even though Vay threw a knockout, haymaker, he doesn’t want to see his opponent hurt.

It was quick, brutal bout. Thankfully Houser appeared to be OK after the devastating punch – even if his pride took a massive hit.
