It was a frustrating night for the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night. The San Jose Sharks took a quick lead in Game 4 with a goal just 15 seconds in and never looked back in a 7-0 rout to tie the series at two wins each. As the game went on, the frustration o the Oilers bubbled over in a scrum on the boards when Leon Draisaitl took a cheap shot with his stick in, as the announcer put it, “a very sensitive area.”

That’s Draisaitl spearing Chris Tierney in the groin with his stick, and it did not go unnoticed. Draisaitl was given a five-minute major penalty and. game misconduct, bringing a premature end to his evening in the second period.

We’ll have to wait and see how the league office weighs in on this incident, but it may be a pretty safe bet to say Draisaitl may not be available for a pivotal Game 5 back in Edmonton.

Because it’s the cup? Here’s just hope Tierney was wearing an extra protective cup.
