It might be time to add Florida Panthers forward Vincent Trocheck to the NHL’s best goalie conversation. Trocheck, 25, found his team trailing 6-3 late in a game against the Boston Bruins on Saturday. With the Panthers’ net empty, the Bruins appeared to have an easy seventh goal.

That’s when this wild save happened:

It’s important to remember that Trocheck’s diving save came with his team trailing by three goals. His level of effort on what should have been the final nail in the coffin perfectly summarizes why he’s considered one of the leaders on Florida’s roster. He didn’t give up even with the final result decided.

On its own, this play is outstanding. But, it’s even more impressive when you consider what headlines surrounded Trocheck in November 2018.

Remember this brutal leg injury he suffered at the end of last year? He had to be stretchered off the ice following an awkward collision into the boards against the Ottawa Senators.

Not only has Trocheck fully recovered, but he’s back to leading the Panthers with the kind of effort that produces one of the best saves of the 2018-19 NHL season.
