Mingled and mixed in with the outrageously terrible jokes and announcement of NHL award winners, the expansion draft for the Vegas Golden Knights took place. Because this is such a unique and exciting event, Golden Knights owner Bill Foley got a little too excited and announced a draft pick from the wrong team:

When it was supposed to be the turn to announce the Golden Knights selection from the Detroit Red Wings, Foley announced their pick from the Dallas Stars instead, because both Tomas Nosek and Cody Eakin are going to change the world of hockey in Las Vegas (not really).

That slip-up might be an indication of how Vegas’ first season in the NHL is going to go, or maybe Bill Foley really loves Cody Eakin as a third-line center playing as a first-line center for a first-year expansion team.

Nice work by the technical folks to change things on the fly, but this is probably the most excited anyone has been about Cody Eakin since Cody Eakin himself was drafted.
