The Nashville Predators beat the Chicago Blackhawks 5-2 on Thursday night at the United Center, and capped off the road victory with a very rare play: A GOALIE GOAL.
Trailing 4-2, Chicago had an empty net with an extra attacker on the ice in the final 30 seconds, and when a Blackhawks offensive series failed, Pekka Rinne took advantage of a special opportunity (though it took an accurate length-of-the-ice shot). Rinne sent the puck 185 feet for the first goalie goal since 2013.
For the first time since 2013… WE HAVE A GOALIE GOAL.
Bless you, Pekka Rinne. 🙏 pic.twitter.com/teY98yCmB9

Predators goalie Pekka Rinne scored a goal in Nashville's win over Chicago on Thursday, the 15th instance of a goalie registering a goal in NHL history.
Rinne is the first goalie to score a goal since Mike Smith did so in 2013. pic.twitter.com/CrRVFhoFjA

That’s a dream come true for the 37-year-old goaltender.
Pekka Rinne scores a goal. Holy crap. He told me last year this was one of his dreams.
