The Carolina Hurricanes are rolling at the right time.

After floating around the .500 mark for the first half of the season, the Canes have pulled off seven wins in their last nine games, propelling them into playoff contention. A big reason Carolina is succeeding? They’re getting big plays at the right time like these stellar saves from goaltender Petr Mrazek.

In the first period of Saturday’s Hurricanes-Dallas matchup, Stars forward Brett Ritchie fired a backhander which Mrazek saved with the tip of his skate. Andrew Cogliano was right on the doorstep for what appeared to be an easy tap-in goal, but Mrazek kept his pad down and robbed him.

It’s a series of great saves from Mrazek and he knew it. The Czech native let out a “heck yeah” (it was probably more NSFW than that), followed by a fist bump. Mrazek was in the zone and the Stars were robbed of a sure goal.

The 27-year-old’s had a tough season, but if he gets locked in and plays well alongside fellow netminder Curtis McElhinney then Carolina’s going to be a tough out come playoff time.
