The future is bright for the Nashville Predators on defense. That statement may feel a bit redundant as the Predators already have one of the best groups of defenders in the NHL, but based on this goal from talented young prospect David Farrance, more exciting talent is waiting in the wings.

Farrance, 18, is currently playing with Team USA in the World Junior Summer Showcase and he scored an absolute stunner to help USA defeat Finland by a 4-3 score.

This goal would be remarkable from a forward, but it’s even more impressive considering it came from a defenseman.

Farrance goes end-to-end, splits the defense and makes the Finnish goalie look silly before burying his shot. This is the type of highlight that should thrill Predators fans and make other NHL teams wonder how they let Farrance fall to the Predators in the third round of the 2017 NHL Draft.

Farrance has committed to Boston University for the upcoming season and will have a chance to show off his skills at the collegiate level. We imagine if he keeps scoring goals like this one that we’ll see him wearing a Predators sweater in the very near future.

For fun, here’s a few more highlights from the defenseman:
