One thing you can say about President Joe Biden, he is a huge sports fan. And apparently also has a great memory. The President, who is from Delaware, is a huge Philadelphia sports fan, including the NHL’s Flyers.
So when the President took a trip to Canada to visit Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, he couldn’t help but take a little dig at the Toronto Maple Leafs.
“I have to say, I like your [hockey] teams, except the Leafs,” Biden said jokingly.
Joe Biden just took a shot at the Toronto Maple Leafs in his speech to Parliament

“I’ll tell you why… they beat the Flyers back in January. That’s why,” President Joe Biden said. “And if I didn’t say that — I married a Philly girl — then I’d say I’d be sleeping alone, fellas. They like ya, but not that much.”
Dr. Jill Biden is a huge Philadelphia sports fan also and was seen during the Super Bowl wearing an Eagles jersey. Biden’s comments draw huge laughs and applause from the other politicians who were in attendance on Friday.
The Leafs had just ended the Flyers’ four-game winning streak back in January and are slated to miss the NHL Playoffs for the third consecutive season.
Meanwhile, the Maple Leafs, who are second in the Atlantic Division, are about to make their seventh consecutive playoff appearance. But they haven’t won the Stanley Cup since 1967. The country of Canada also hasn’t hoisted the Stanley Cup since 1993.
