The United States and Canada hockey teams are set to face each other on Thursday night for the championship game in the Four Nations Face-Off. This comes amid a particularly heated time between the two countries, as United States President Donald Trump has been very vocal about his desire to annex Canada and turn it into the 51st state.
As a result, Canadians have been booing the Star Spangled Banner, America’s national anthem during its performance before games.
Thursday’s final between the countries will be played on American soil, however, one prominent figure in the Hockey world wants to see some class from the Americans in attendance.
“Let’s be better than that,” said Four Nations Face-Off play-by-play announcer Sean McDonough of Americans potentially boooing the Canadian national anthem when it is rendered on Thursday.

Fans reacted to McDonough’s take on social media.
“Did the Canadian leader say he was going to tariff and destroy our economy? Did he say America will be the next Canadian province? No? THEN SHUT THE F UP!” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Why would anyone listen to what Sean McDonough thinks about US/Canadien relations,” one fan added.
“The Canadians are justified,” added someone else.
It’ll be interesting to see what the crowd elects to do.
