The Florida Panthers and Dallas Stars got together for a neutral-site game in London, Ontario as the NHL preseason continued, but it seemed the Panthers forgot to check which uniform they were supposed to wear. This resulted in a rare white jersey vs. white jersey uniform matchup on the ice as both the Panthers and Stars were wearing their road uniforms for the exhibition game.

The blame should fall on the Panthers and the equipment staff for this one, as they were the designated road team for the neutral-ice game in Canada. But with the two teams scheduled to meet again Tuesday in Texas, the Panthers figured they would be safe bringing just one uniform combo with them. Why that means they would think Dallas would pack their home uniforms only to bring them back to Dallas for Tuesday night’s game remains a bit of a mystery, but whatever.

The game went on regardless and may not have been quite a big deal as it would have been for a regular season game. Of course, regular season schedules make it pretty clear which team should be wearing a home jersey and which team should be wearing a road jersey.

It would be one thing if the teams both showed up wearing their home uniforms, as we would at least still some degree of contrasting colors on the ice. Even the helmets the players were wearing were the same color (white), adding to the confusion.
