The name Jason Statham is synonymous with action flicks these days, but long before his big screen debut he filled a competitive desire within by being a competitive diver and having a full head of hair.

In fact, he once represented England in the Commonwealth Games in 1990 and video of that event is now making the rounds.

Don’t believe me? Here’s visual proof of the now bad-ass going all springboard diving on us:

Let’s just say there may be a reason we see Statham playing a role as a largely pissed-off character in just about every movie he has played in as a star. I mean, the dude was getting railed on by the BBC commentators and had a rough go of it in the Commonwealth Games of 1990.

I guess I’d be one ticked-off individual if my hopes of Olympic glory were fading after a rough Commonwealth Games experience.

However, Statham rebounded nicely in his competitive swimming days — even representing Great Britain at three separate Olympiads (1988, 1992 and the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta).
