As is tradition with every Olympic games, the Olympic torch is making its way across the world from Greece to the host city in the weeks leading up the games. The relay began on April 21 in Greece, passed through Switzerland in late April, and made it to Brazil on May 4. The torch will continue to pass through Brazilian cities on its way to Rio de Janeiro prior to the Opening Ceremony on Aug. 5.

However, at least one Brazilian really doesn’t want the flame to make it to Rio. While the torch made its way through Joinville in Brazil, a protestor attempted to put the flame out with a fire extinguisher during a relay. The man was unsuccessful and taken down by security.

You know you can just re-light the torch, right?

Before the Sochi games in 2014, the torch went out in Moscow and was relit moments later.

Clever idea at trying to put it out, and maybe it was a somewhat symbolic gesture or even a prank. But even if the attempt was successful, it wouldn’t have stopped the Olympic Games from happening. However, there are plenty of people, both Brazilians and doctors around the world, who probably would’ve been all right with the games stopping.
