Ryan Lochte Ryan Lochte of the United States attends a press conference in the Main Press Centre on Day 7 of the Rio Olympics on August 12, 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

It came out early Tuesday that Ryan Lochte will be on the next season of Dancing with the Stars. This means that we will get to see Lochte’s bright and shining face on national TV once again (Yippee!).

Lochte’s national media tour started with Good Morning America. Inevitably, the U.S. swimmer was asked about the fake robbery. Lochte once again apologized for his stupidity but is also blaming the media and others for dragging this story out.

“I just want to move forward and want the whole world to move forward,” Lochte said. “Everybody’s got to be sick and tired of hearing about this. I know I am. I just want to move forward.”

“We’re just trying to get this over with,” Lochte said. “It’s been dragged out way too long. The media has taken this to a whole new level.”

There are so many ways to react to these quotes. First off, I think the rest of the world has moved on, Mr. Lochte.

Second, think about this situation. It started because Lochte, who claims to have been intoxicated at the time, and his mother talked to every media outlet and their mother about how he had been held up at gun point. Then, everyone found out Lochte had lied about the details of the incident, which sparked a further investigation.

Lochte has to realize that he can’t pick and choose when something becomes a headline. That’s not how this whole thing works. And it seems pretty weak that Lochte’s latest tactic is blaming the media for his screw up.

To top off this story, Lochte also talked about how depressing these past few weeks have been for him.

“The emotional part is the hardest thing,” Lochte said. “The past two weeks have been the lowest part of my life … the fans, my family, my friends have been really positive and keeping me going.”

Insert the world’s smallest violin here. Sorry, it’s hard to feel sorry for Lochte. He brought this upon himself. Maybe sometime on the dance floor will cure his blues.
