While Simone Biles and her Olympic teammates triumphed over in Paris, winning the gold medal in team gymnastics, her husband Jonathan Owens was in training camp for the Chicago Bears. When he found out his wife led her team to gold, his response was: “Just amazing.”
That caption included a picture of his wife on Instagram after the team’s win. Owens and Biles’s relationship has been controversial at times, especially when Owens talked about it on a podcast, which didn’t sit well with many of her fans.
Owens and Biles met on a dating app. At the time, he said he didn’t know who she was, which many found hard to believe. He later claimed in that interview that he was the catch, which rubbed her fans the wrong way. Many started calling him Owen “Mr. Biles,” which rubbed her the wrong way so much so that she came out on social media a few months ago and defended him.
“They hurt my feelings,” she said. “I broke down and I’m like, why are you guys talking about my husband like this? You don’t know him, you don’t know who he is, and if anybody’s met him, they know he’s the sweetest guy and will do anything for anybody.”
Yet despite the noise surrounding their relationship, the pair remain supportive of each other. Biles went to NFL games last season to support her husband and according to reports, the Bears are letting Owens go support his wife in Paris.
