Randall Margraves has three daughters who were abused by former gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar, and for a moment during a sentencing hearing Friday, Margraves attempted to take justice into his own hands.

Margraves asked the presiding judge for “one minute” with Nassar, then lunged at the doctor, saying “I want that son of a bitch” and “Give me one minute with that bastard,” as he was wrestled to the ground by security.

After he was taken from the courtroom, the assistant attorney general turned to the crowd and said, “I do not want to see another parent get arrested or put handcuffs on. We cannot behave like this. I understand Mr. Margraves’ frustration, but you cannot do this. This is not helping your community, this is not helping your children, this is not helping us, this is not helping the police department.”

According to the Detroit News, Margraves’ daughter Lauren had just finished giving a victim-impact statement in which she said Nassar began abusing her when she was 13.

Here’s another view of the commotion:

Nassar has already been sentenced to 40-175 years in prison after pleading guilty to seven counts of criminal sexual conduct in Ingham County, Michigan in addition to a 60-year federal sentence on child pornography charges. He is now being sentenced on an additional three counts in Eaton County.
