Amongst many other things, Massachusett’s top federal prosecutor has been accused of attempting to influence the outcome of an election for Boston’s district attorney by leaking information against her preferred candidate’s rival, according to the Justice Department.
Their findings also appear to involve misappropriated Boston Celtics tickets.
An investigation by the U.S. Office of Special Counsel found that U.S. Attorney Rachael Rollins made multiple violations of the Hatch Act, which limits the political activity of government employees.
The bombshell finding comes a day after Rollins’ lawyer told The Associated Press she would resign this week as she “understands that her presence has become a distraction.”
There were quite a few accusations of misconduct in the 161-page report, including an instance when she misappropriated Boston Celtics tickets.
“The inspector general’s report accused Rollins of soliciting and accepting 30 free tickets to a Boston Celtics game for youth basketball players and accepting payment from a sports and entertainment agency for flights and a stay at a luxury resort,” wrote the Associated Press.
There are far worse things that she is accused of doing. In fact, Special Counsel Henry Kerner wrote in a letter to President Joe Biden that Rollins’ violations were among the “most egregious transgressions” his agency had ever investigated.
