Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy has been thought of as a supporter of 47th United States President Donald Trump. That’s why it was so surprising when Portnoy came out with a harsh public criticism for how Trump handled an incident where a magazine editor was mistakenly added to a top-secret group chat of government officials prior to a military anti-terror strike.
Now, it appears that Portnoy is really trying to put some distance between himself and the President, saying that he is more than willing to vote Democrat if he feels like he has to in the wake of the recent stock market crash.
“Yea, absolutely. One thing about me, which drives me crazy, I voted for Trump, I support him. I was never like some crazy MAGA guy,” Portnoy said, according to Awful Announcing. “I look at each candidate and I choose who I like. I think the left, and a lot of even what they did with, I want to say hiding Biden’s mental state, not having a primary, really drove me to the right.
“So, I am not somebody who would just strictly vote based on Republican or Democrat. I vote on the people running, how I think they speak to me, the issues that are important to me. But yes, I will vote how I feel is the best interest of what I believe in,” he added.
People reacted to Portnoy’s statement on social media.
“Dave Portnoy only cares about what will help his bottom line. Which is crazy because he already has so much. Greed turns into slavery real quick,” one person wrote on Twitter.
“Flips and flops more than the pizza he eats,” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Trump responds to Portnoy.
