Former president Donald Trump faces 34 felony counts in a Manhattan District Court related to an alleged hush money payment he made to adult film star Stormy Daniels.

How that case plays out in court remains to be seen. However, it doesn’t change the fact that Trump is once again running for president.

Legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus, who endorsed Trump in his 2016 and 2020 races, says he’s open to endorsing Trump again—if he’s the best possible candidate.

“Depends on who is running, doesn’t it?” Nicklaus said at a Masters Tournament press conference, according to bunkered.com. “We’ll have to see what happens. I’ve always supported who I thought was the best candidate. I thought Donald Trump was the last time. Whether Donald will be this time or not, I don’t know. We’ll wait and see.”

Nicklaus, a lifelong Republican, says he no longer feels comfortable branding himself that way, and that the populace should wait and see what happens with the race.

“I don’t like to brand myself as a Republican. I like to sort of brand myself as being able to think freely, and I voted for a lot of Democrats through the years as well as Republicans, and I tried to pick the person I think would do the best job for our country.”

“We’ve got a year and a half to wait for that to see what’s going to happen.”
