Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp makes college football prediction

Georgia governor Brian Kemp and Atlanta mayor Andre Dickens have some shockingly high expectations for their alma mater’s football teams.

Atlanta will host the 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship, and during a press conference to announce their winning bid, Kemp and Dickens both made bold college football predictions.

“As y’all know, Georgia won the national championship last year,” Kemp said during a press conference from Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. “I believe they’re going to repeat this year. Then win the next year. And then we’ll see them win their fourth in a row, mayor, in this game.”

How about that, a four-peat prediction for the Bulldogs from the Republican governor. But the politicians weren’t done talking college football, as Mayor Dickens supported Kemp’s prediction before one-upping the GOP governor with an even hotter take.

“I’m with the governor,” the Democratic mayor of Atlanta said of Kemp’s four-peat prediction. “We can get Georgia back-to-back to back. Then in 2025, we can have the Bulldogs vs. the Yellow Jackets, y’all, right here for the national championship.

“That would be – amazing!” Dickens added with a laugh, well aware that Georgia Tech football has combined for just nine wins over the last three seasons.

Obviously, the predictions were made in jest – I hope – with Kemp being a Georgia University alum, and Dickens a graduate of Georgia Tech. There’s no way Kemp and Dickens actually believe Georgia vs Georgia Tech for the National Championship in 2025 is on the verge of becoming a reality, but unconvincing declarations are on brand for politicians of both parties.
