Herschel Walker US Senate candidate Herschel Walker speaks during a campaign stop on Wednesday November 2, 2022 in Richmond Hill, Georgia.

Throughout his campaign for Georgia’s senate seat, former Georgia Bulldogs star running back Herschel Walker has been the source of a number of controversies. He’s told several blatant lies, flashed a fake police badge, made quite disrespectful comments toward those with chronic diseases, and appears to have lied about his residency, one way or another. Additionally, multiple women have come forward accusing the Pro-Life candidate of pressuring them to get abortions. And now, Walker is facing a new controversy related to his charities.

According to a report from Business Insider, Herschel Walker is associated with a number of charities that “appear to have engaged in little, if any, charitable activity.”

Walker partnered with a charity called Livio Cares whose goal was to help children battling “physical, neurological, financial and other types of challenges.” But according to Business Insider, there’s no evidence they ever did that, despite their claims.

“There is no evidence Livio Cares engaged in philanthropic activities. While Livio claimed its foundation provided ‘time and financial resources’ to organizations for children, an Insider analysis of Livio Cares’ federal tax documents offered no evidence that the group received or provided charitable donations.”

Herschel Walker also listed as the director of VMP Nutrition Foundation in Forth Worth, Texas. The organization promised to nourish 150,000 children in the Detroit area through a summer program, but there’s no evidence that ever happened.

Additionally, according to the Associated Press, Walker said he founded (and sometimes took credit for operating) a program called Patriot Support that claimed to treat thousands of soldiers per year. However, there are two problems with that claim: Walker was found to have drastically overstated his role with the organization, and the organization was alleged to have preyed upon veterans and service members while defrauding the government.
