Herschel Walker, the Republican Senate nominee of Georgia, is currently in a tight race with Democratic incumbent Reverend Raphael Warnock. The race could ultimately decide which political party controls the country’s most powerful legislative chamber following next week’s election.

Allegations of financing two abortions for as many women rocked the pro-life campaign of Walker. But polling has tightened in recent weeks, especially after former president Donald Trump threw his arm over Walker and absolved him of the scandal. Walker has denied any wrongdoing.

A Marist poll of definite voters released Friday revealed a statistical dead heat between the two candidates. Warnock and Walker showed identical 48% rates of support from those who say they will definitely vote, according to the Marist poll of 1,009 definite voters.

A previous poll from Marist in September found Reverend Warnock leading Walker by two points.

The sample of definite voters has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.2 percentage points. Among registered voters in Georgia, Warnock has 49% of the support compared to Walker’s 45%, Fox News noted.

The 2022 midterm elections are slated for Tuesday, Nov. 8th, 2022. Oddsmakers have basically already handed control of the House of Representatives to the Republicans, while forecasts for the Senate remain murkier.
