Herschel Walker, the Republican candidate for Senate in Georgia, faces incumbent Senator Raphael Warnock in the nation’s most brutal election of the 2022 midterm cycle.

Two women accused the pro-life Walker of financing their abortions—allegations Walker denied. Former presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump campaigned for their party’s respective candidates. Even Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James waded into the race, endorsing Senator Warnock.

Polling showed a statistical dead heat after both sides spent more than $241 million on the race.

Neither candidate, however, clinched the required 50 percent of the vote. Per Georgia state election law, Walker and Warnock now advance to a head-to-head runoff election. Walker raised an eye-popping $3.3 million in the first 24 hours of the race.

The campaign turned particularly nasty in the days leading to last Tuesday’s elections. Though Democrats have already seized control of the Senate in 2023, the special election campaign should be no less brutal.

Earlier this week, Walker already insinuated, without proof, earlier this week that Warnock has skeletons of his own.

“I’m taking the high road because he has a lot of skeletons in his closet,” said at a rally, according to The Daily Beast. Walker did not comment on any of the numerous scandals that have plagued his campaign.

Georgia voters head to the polls for the special Georgia Senate runoff election on Dec. 6th.
