Herschel Walker, the Republican candidate for Senate in Georgia, faces Democratic incumbent Senator Raphael Warnock in the most bruising election of the 2022 midterm cycle.
The two campaigns advanced to a head-to-head runoff election required by Georgia state election law since neither candidate earned 50 percent of the vote in the Nov. 8th election.
Walker’s campaign has been rocked by multiple scandals. Two women accused Walker of financing their abortions, with the second accuser appearing on camera with Good Morning America while doing so. Walker, for his part, has denied the allegations.
On Wednesday, CNN revealed another Walker scandal.
Walker received a tax break intended only for primary residences on a home in a suburb of Dallas, Texas. CNN revealed Walker saved $1,500 and likely broke tax rules in Georgia and Texas. Walker took the tax break in 2021 and 2022.
Walker is registered to vote in Georgia. He left Texas in 2021 to run for Senate.
Walker’s campaign, for the most part, has been undeterred by any scandal or verbal gaffe, no matter how embarrassing. Former presidents Donald Trump and Barack Obama have campaigned for their party’s candidates.
Georgia voters head to the polls on Dec. 6th. Democrats have already retained control of the Senate in 2023.
