Senator Raphael Warnock, the incumbent Democratic Senator from Georgia, faces Herschel Walker in the most brutal election of the 2022 midterm cycle. Both campaigns are pulling out all the stops ahead of this week’s runoff election.

Much has been made about former president Donald Trump deciding not to campaign with Walker in the final days of the election. But President Joe Biden has also decided against campaigning in person with Warnock to give his party’s candidate the best chance at prevailing.

“This race in Georgia… it’s really, really critical,” Biden said while appearing at a Democratic Party phone bank aimed at Peach State voters, according to Fox News. “This is a guy who needs our help.”

The latest polling shows a statistical dead heat between the two candidates. Former president Barack Obama has personally campaigned with Warnock while trading barbs with Walker. Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has also entered the race by endorsing Warnock.

Warnock and Walker face each other in a head-to-head runoff election as required by Georgia state law after neither candidate earned 50 percent of the vote in the Nov. 8th election.

Georgia voters head the polls on Dec. 6th to decide the election. Democrats have already retained control of the Senate in 2023.
