Former United States President Donald Trump has been banned from Twitter since January of 2021 due to “the risk of further incitement of violence” following the Jan. 6 attacks on the United States capital. But with billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk now owning Twitter, Trump has been reinstated.

On Saturday, Musk posted a Twitter poll allowing users to vote on whether or not Donald Trump should be allowed to return to Twitter. After a “Yes” vote won the poll in which over 15 million users voted, Musk announced that Trump’s Twitter account would be reinstated.

Naturally, many people had strong opinions on the matter, but Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was among the voices weighing in on the news. He had a pretty surprising opinion, revealing that he thinks the move is good for Twitter but bad for Trump.

“Smart marketing move for @twitter,” Mark Cuban said in a Tweet. “Now everyone comes to see what trump does. Awful for trump. The pressure is on him to entertain. Tweets hit different as the President vs now being [the former guy].”

While it remains to be seen whether this is a good move for Twitter or not, Musk has already had his fair share of problems after buying the social network with an influx of fake accounts promoting a policy reversal.
