Adam Thielen's cleats honoring Alex Trebek.

Long-time Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek’s passing at 80 Nov. 8 following a battle with pancreatic cancer sparked plenty of discussion in the sports world for the many ways he was involved in sports, from his early work at the CBC to his comments on contestants missing easy sports questions to his announcement of the Ottawa Senators’ first draft pick this summer (in Jeopardy! form). Trebek meant a lot to many in the sports world as well, which spawned thoughtful tributes from some sports figures who went on Jeopardy!, including Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic. And a new tribute to Trebek comes from Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen, who chose to wear custom cleats honoring Trebek on this week’s Monday Night Football clash against the Chicago Bears. Here’s a look at those from artist Dan “Mache” Gamache:

Trebek’s run hosting Jeopardy! (from 1984-2020) certainly meant a lot to many people, and it’s neat to see that recognized by a NFL player like Thielen. And these are some pretty cool cleats. The Vikings, ESPN (the network broadcasting Monday’s game), and others gave this some Twitter push:

That’s a neat touch by Thielen and Mache, and it adds to the many cool custom cleat tributes we’ve seen over the years.
