Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter has had a tumultuous year. Women’s golf star Paige Spiranac found herself embroiled with the singer after Carpenter was praised for embracing her sexuality.
“I dislike how women pick and choose when it’s okay to support other women for embracing their sexuality depending on if it appears to be for the female or male gaze,” Spiranac wrote on Twitter after a fan called Carpenter a genius for embracing her sexuality. “Women should be able to embrace their sexuality if that’s what makes them feel empowered.
“One shouldn’t be called a genius while the other is called an attention [expletive] for doing the same exact thing.”
As if the Spiranac controversy wasn’t enough, it was recently reported that Carpenter is taking a break with boyfriend Barry Keoghan amid rumor that he cheated.
Unfortunately, although the rumors haven’t been confirmed or denied, apparently Keoghan has been the victim of attacks on social media, which isn’t a good look for either him or Carpenter.
Keoghan took to social media to post a lengthy take on the respect he, and by extension Carpenter, should be shown during this time.
Please be respectful

Fans reacted to the message on social media.
“Yall saying Barry deactivated his insta was “proving” he cheated but maybe just needed to like get away from all the comments and [expletive] people were saying to him,” one fan said on Twitter.
“People are so weird .. there absolutely no reason to be harassing this man and his family over something that isn’t even that serious fr. Just a bunch of jobless weirdos and bums,” one fan added.
“We respect you’re boundaries we are so sorry how much internet cyber bullying can take someones advantage full hatred we believe in you life can be so cruel,” another fan added.
“Hang in there. It’s pretty gross behavior but part of the long legacy of being internationally known. All the lines are all crossed and it’s not fair but I’m guessing you’ll be clever about dodging the worst,” one fan added.
“The way y’all treat celebrities is INSANE how many time do they have to come forward cause y’all are being creeps??” one person added.
Hopefully, people ease up and let the pair figure things out between themselves.
