The man who invaded school science classes across the country will now have his own Netflix show.

The company said Wednesday that Bill Nye will debut a talk show in 2017 on Netflix called “Bill Nye Saves the World.” According to a release from the streaming service, this show will “explore science and its impact on politics, society and pop culture.”

This is the second time that Netflix has ventured into the talk show world. The first personality to start the trend was Chelsea Handler. Her show began this year and was successful enough to be renewed for a second season.

Since Nye was on PBS from 1993-98, he has been on a mission to educate the public about science and its role in society. As he said in a release on Wednesday, he would like to do the same in his newest venture.

“Since the start of the ‘Science Guy’ show, I’ve been on a mission to change the world by getting people everywhere excited about the fundamental ideas in science,” Nye said in a statement. “With the right science and good writing, we’ll do our best to enlighten and entertain our audience. And, perhaps we’ll change the world a little.”
He added they have plans for episodes about vaccinations, genetically modified foods and climate change.

Nye has continued to be a strong voice in the scientific world. He has battled on various talk shows about the validity of climate change and even wrote an op-ed wanting NASCAR to change to NESCAR and use electric vehicles.

The show appears to be a ways away. But we can only hope the theme song from Nye’s original program return. Who hasn’t sung along to this old school classic?
