Kansas City Chiefs superstar Travis Kelce is returning to the field this season after speculation that he’d be retiring after a dissapointing 2025-26 campaign that saw the Chiefs miss the playoffs for the first time in the Patrick Mahomes era.
“We played our last game of the season in Vegas last year, and when we got back we have player meetings and exit interviews,”“It was a cool deal where Trav came in and he basically said ‘I’m going to take a few weeks off here, but I’m not going out like this, let’s stay in touch and let’s figure something out,” Chiefs general manager Brett Veach said of Kelce’s decision to return.
“We certainly knew ahead of time,” he added. “While free agency and there was still some questions in the air on whether or not he’d return, we knew basically the day after our last game. He made it known to coach Reid and to me that there was no way he was going out like this.”
However, before Kelce and his running mate, star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, get started on their attempt to win their fourth Super Bowl together, Kelce has big summer plans with his fiancée, global pop sensation Taylor Swift. Swift and Kelce are set to be married in early July in New York City’s Madison Square Garden, and now TMZ is reporting on some of what they have planned for what is expected to be a massive, star-studded event.
“A massive castle is being built inside a garden at MSG, with the legendary venue being transformed into a full-blown fairytale for the big July 3 wedding event,” the outlet reported.
Unfortunately for fans, more info on the wedding and what goes on within the walls may be difficult to come by. Per TMZ, guests will be required to sign electronic NDAs, and every invite is individually watermarked.
“Tackier than I could have ever imagined.”
People on social media had mixed feelings on Swift and Kelce’s reported plans.
“She’s tacky I’m sorry y’all,” one fan posted on X.
“Every piece of news about this wedding just ramps up the level of tackiness, and not the fun campy kind, but the straight-up bad taste kind,” someone else added.
“Zohran babe can you pls do something about this,” one person added.
“Tackier than I could have ever imagined,” another person posted.
Whatever fans may think, Kelce’s father, Ed Kelce, is thrilled that his son is marrying Swift.
“She is a sweetheart that is truly the girl next door,” the 74-year-old told Fox Philadelphia.
Kelce and Mahomes will be fully focused on winning a Super Bowl once the season starts, but for now, it’s safe to say they’re going to be a little preoccupied.
