It’s been an interesting revival for George Orwell’s book 1984, with the novel — first published in 1949 — recently hitting best-seller lists.
And 1984 got a stage adaptation of the dystopian classic in London beginning in 2013. The play ended up being a huge success; so much so that it’s coming to Broadway this summer.
Sonia Friedman and Scott Rudin — famously known as a producer for such Oscar-winning movies as The Social Network, No Country for Old Men, and Moneyball, will produce the Broadway show.
Check out the very odd press release announcing the news:
The 1984 play is set to open June 22, 2017 on Broadway.
