George Martin, a legendary music producer best known for his work with The Beatles passed away at the age of 90 Tuesday.

This led to much confusion for fans of Game of Thrones, because George R.R. Martin is the author of the A Song of Ice and Fire novels that the popular TV series it’s based off of. Needless to say, Twitter was set ablaze with people thinking the author had passed.

Martin told his fans on his blog that he was “not dead yet,” writing on his blog that he was just fine, despite KOLO8, who killed him:

While it is strangely moving to realize that so many people around the world care so deeply about my life and death, I have to go with Mark Twain and insist that the rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated.

It was Sir George Martin, of Beatles fame, who has passed away. Not me.

He will be missed. I never met Sir George (I did meet Paul McCartney once, for about a minute, while waiting for the valet to bring my rental car up at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills), but like many millions of others, I loved the Beatles, and Martin’s contribution to their music is worthy of recognition and honor.

[…]

As for me, I am still here, still writing, still editing, still going to movies and reading books, and I expect to hang around for quite a while yet, thank you very much.

But thank you all for caring.

Fans were especially frightened at the idea of Martin being dead, because he has yet to finish the sixth book in the A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy series. The sixth season of the show is set to make its debut in April, but Martin has made it clear that the sixth novel wouldn’t be released before the show aired.

So fear not, Game of Thrones fans, you will get your sixth novel, and George R.R. Martin is alive and well.
