LEGO NINJAGO movie

What do Olivia Munn, Jackie Chan, Dave Franco, Michael Pena, Zach Woods, Fred Armisen, and Kumail Nanjiani have in common? Well other than the fact that they’re all actors, they’re all in the upcoming The LEGO NINJAGO Movie.

After The LEGO Movie was such a big hit in 2014, Warner Brothers announced more LEGO based movies were gearing up for production. First up was The LEGO Batman Movie, which is currently in theaters.

What’s next? The LEGO NINJAGO Movie, which is slated to be released in theaters on September 22nd, 2017. On Wednesday, the first trailer for the movie came out.

My immediate first impression from this trailer has nothing to do with the storyline or jokes. Instead, it’s that the animators do such an incredible job making the movie look as realistic as possible while also making the various LEGO pieces as clear as possible.

Overall, NINJAGO looks to be action packed and full of explosions, which is what makes the animation so impressive. Just like the first two LEGO movies, it also seems like it’ll be full of jokes as evidenced by the wedding joke the trailer leads off with.

Speaking of which, what made the original LEGO movie so great was it’s ability to relate not only to kids who play with LEGOs, but people 18 and up who understand the adult humor and also used to play with LEGOs. The wedding joke at the beginning of the trailer makes it seem like NINJAGO will follow the same script when it comes to comedy.

What also makes these LEGO movies so great is the incredible casts. Chris Pratt was the lead in The LEGO Movie while Will Arnett was the lead in BATMANNINJAGO once again delivers with a great cast:

Olivia Munn (The NewsroomX-Men), Jackie Chan (everything), Dave Franco (21 and 22 Jump StreetThe LEGO Movie), Justin Theroux (American PsychoThe LeftoversParks and Recreation), Michael Pena (The MartianEastbound & DownShooter), Abbi Jacobson (Broad CityNeighbors 2), Zach Woods (Silicon ValleyThe Office), Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon ValleyPortlandia), and Fred Armisen (Saturday Night LiveAnchormanPortlandia).

Once again, The LEGO NINJAGO Movie is set to come out on September 22nd, 2017.
