Star Wars: The Last Jedi comes out December 15th, and until now we hadn’t even had a teaser for it.

Emphasis on until now, because we got much more than a traditional teaser today.

Here’s the first trailer for Episode VII:

Oh, damn, that looks amazing. Love the opening note, with Rey popping into frame breathing heavily, which is an echo of the first teaser for The Force Awakens.

There are a lot of rumors that The Last Jedi is going to be a bit darker than The Force Awakens, which didn’t exactly end on a high note. If the trailer is any indication, it very well may be going that route, with quite the downer at the end.

We also get more Luke Skywalker than we got in the entire last movie, with a welcome return for Mark Hamill. Rian Johnson (Looper) is one of the more fascinating directors working, and he seems like a perfect match for the material.

The plot isn’t really hinted at, beyond what everyone was expecting: Luke will apparently be training Rey in the ways of the force, at least to some degree. We also got glimpses of Finn, Poe, BB-8, Kylo Ren, and what looked like Carrie Fisher, in what will sadly be her last role.

This looks so good.

We also got a fantastic new poster:

So much yes.
