What kind of menace would require DC Comics’ greatest heroes to band together on screen? How about a big bad guy from another planet named Steppenwolf? It’s up to the Justice League to stop him.

In the newest Comic-Con trailer for the upcoming Justice League film, one of DC’s biggest villains yields his ugly head. Steppenwolf, one of the New Gods and uncle of the biggest bad of all, Darkseid, is seen wrecking Earth in search of the three Mother Boxes (a necessary tool in creating a device capable of bringing Darkseid to our planet).

More importantly, we’re shown more action from the League.

The trailer is essentially a nerd’s dream. Wonder Woman and The Flash team up, Aquaman straight up murders one of Darkseid’s Parademons, Cyborg plugs into the Batmobile and Batman gears up to kick some ass. Plus, who doesn’t love a quipping, overwhelmed Barry Allen still learning the ropes of being on a superteam?

The Zack Snyder-directed film (now with help from Joss Whedon) features new intriguing easter eggs. The first being Alfred asking a mysterious character at the end for help. That’s got to be how Superman re-emerges.

More exciting still is one of the comments from Steppenwolf’s voice over in which he states “No Lanterns. No Kryptonians.” That’s the first big tease (in a DC film) about Green Lanterns existing in this universe. Could we get Hal Jordan, John Stewart or another variation of the character in Justice League? Damn, that’d be exciting.

Even if the movies don’t live up to the hype, the trailers should have you beaming. Who’s ready to unite the league? Justice League hits theaters November 17.
