When it comes to deciding what your favorite Christopher Guest mockumentary is, you’re usually either #TeamWaitingForGuffman or #TeamBestInShow.

It tends to come down to which one you saw first. Either way, Guest has carved out a special niche for himself as the master of the mockumentary, be it with Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, or For Your Consideration. To be fair, that last one was a bit of a letdown but Guest took some time away to recharge his powers and he’s back with a brand new mockumentary movie called Mascots.

The film, which will be released exclusively on Netflix on October 13, now has a full trailer. And we mean full. Full of familiar faces. Full of great comedians. And full of that patented cringe-worthy comedy Guest’s films are beloved for.

The gist is that this is a documentary following the World Mascot Association Championships (a.k.a. The Fluffies) and it appears that all of the elements that make a great Christopher Guest mockumentary are in place. A collection of eccentric people. Check. An end goal that doesn’t seem quite as important as everyone is making it out to be. Check. Parker Posey, Fred Willard, Jennifer Coolidge, Bob Balaban, Michael Hitchcock, Jane Lynch, Ed Begley Jr., and a slew of other familiar faces from the other films? Check.

What’s great to see if that the cast is not only full of the familiar faces were used to seeing in these films but also includes a lot of new faces like Chris O’Dowd (Moone Boy, Bridesmaids)Zach Woods (The Office, Ghostbusters) and Sarah Baker (Go On, The Campaign). Unfortunately there’s no Eugene Levy or Catherine O’Hara, which makes us a little sad.

Still, if the humor holds up to match some of the one-liners in the trailer (“I’ll take that over some guy, you know, defecating on my head”), then it should be a welcome addition to the Christopher Guest pantheon.

Seriously though, Waiting for Guffman is the best film in the set. Don’t argue this.
